Done in the window
The jobs that have to happen in a fortnight, with the machinery and the people to get them done before the weather turns.
Needs your eyesOnly the crop spraying page was written out in full during design. The wording on this page is a first draft in the same structure and voice — read it before it goes live.

One — the ground
Matched to your soil, not our diary
How much you move, and with what, depends on the ground and what is going in after. We would rather do less to a field than more, and be able to say why.
- Ploughing
- Where it earns its keep
- Min-till
- Where the ground suits it
- Subsoiling
- Targeted, not blanket
- Drilling
- To your seed rate

Two — the timing
In and out while the ground is right
The difference between a good job and an expensive one is usually a few days. We plan the run so you are not last on the list when the window closes.
If we cannot get to you in time, we will tell you early enough for you to get someone who can.
We do
- Tell you honestly where you are in the run
- Move for genuine urgency
- Work the hours the weather allows
We don’t
- Promise a date we cannot hold
- Travel on ground that will not carry it
- Take the job on if we cannot do it properly

Three — the kit
Enough of it to keep going
Rolls, harrows, cultivation equipment and the tractors to pull them — most of it also for sale, which is how we know what it is worth.
- Rolls
- 3m flat rolls, water ballast
- Harrows
- Chain harrows to 16ft
- Tractors
- 175hp, front linkage
- Backup
- More than one of most things

Four — the price
Per hectare where it’s fair, per hour where it isn’t
Straightforward ground is priced per hectare. Awkward fields, small blocks and anything we cannot predict are priced by the hour, and we will tell you which is likely to cost you less before you decide.
- Per hectare
- Predictable ground
- Per hour
- Awkward or unknown
- Quoted
- In writing, before we start
- Travel
- Included locally
The detail, without the phone call
The things a farmer would otherwise have to ring and ask. Your season will differ — this is the shape of it.
| Stage | When | What we need from you |
|---|---|---|
| Enquire | As early as you can | Field, acreage, what is going in after |
| Look | Before quoting, where it matters | Access to walk it |
| Quote | In writing | A yes, or a question |
| Work | In the window | Gateways clear, a call if anything changes |
| Invoice | After the job | Nothing |
How it’s priced
- Per hectare
- Straightforward passes on ground we can predict.
- Per hour
- Awkward fields, small blocks, and anything with an unknown in it.
- Per season
- The whole year’s operations, planned and invoiced predictably.
We will tell you which basis is likely to cost you less for your fields, even when it is not the one that suits us.

Questions we get asked
How far do you travel?
South Shropshire and the borders, week in and week out — Bridgnorth, Alveley and the ground around them. Further afield depends on the size of the job, so ring and ask rather than assume.
Can you work steep or awkward ground?
Often, yes. Tell us what it is and we will be straight about whether our kit is right for it, rather than turning up and finding out.
How much notice do you need?
In season, as much as you can give us. We keep some capacity back for urgent work, so ring even at short notice and we will tell you honestly whether we can fit it in.
Get it booked in
The field, the acreage and roughly when it needs doing. We’ll come back with a written price and an honest date.
